Este sí que fue un UFO, pero ya está terminado y en uso.

Lo mostré por primera vez en abril del 2010 y luego con algunos avances en septiembre de ese año, y nuevamente quedó esperando mejor tiempo y ánimo de su realizadora.

Fui una de tantas personas que se maravilló la muestra de quilts en blanco y rojo, que se realizó en Nueva York el año pasado, y una de tantas que lamentó no haberla visto en vivo y en directo.

Dos diseñadoras, Gay de Sentimental Stitches y Brenda Papadakis de Dear Jane, se han unido para recrear dicha muestra y desde el 1 de enero de 2012 entregan un nuevo BOM “Just Takes 2”, bloques en diferentes tamaños claramente explicados forman parte de un gran sampler ”Infinite Variety”.

Two designers, Gay of Sentimental Stitches and Brenda Papadakis of Dear Jane, have joined forces to recreate the sample and from January 1, 2012 delivered a new BOM "Just Takes 2", blocks in different sizes clearly explained a large part of sampler "Infinite Variety".

Me uní a este proyecto, pero cambié el color rojo por el naranjo. Estoy usando diferentes telas en ese color, estampadas y marmoleadas, como también diferentes tonos del naranja.

Ya han aparecido muchos proyectos nuevos y tentadores para este año, pero ¿qué hago con los antiguos?

Ayer encontré este desafío de Patchwork Times para terminar trabajos acumulados, leí varias veces sus condiciones y me decidí a participar. Es una idea genial (años atrás participé en OPAM: un proyecto al mes). He confeccionado una lista de diez proyectos, para dos de ellos estime dos meses, tampoco se trata de reventarme.

There are many new and tempting projects for this year, but what I do with the old projects?

Yesterday I found this challenge of Patchwork Times, I read your conditions several times and I decided to participate. It's a great idea (years ago I participated in OPAM: one project a month). I have compiled a list of ten projects, two of them consider two months, and I’m not going to stop sleeping!

1.- Carpeta cuadrada floral: falta la orilla.

2.- Camino de mesa otoñal: está listo para acolchar y la orilla.

3.- Colcha de bloques de tiras: hay que unir los bloques con el método quilt as you go.

4.- Piecera con apliqué: falta acolchar sólo un lado largo y unir al resto.

5.- Colcha folk art: falta terminar tres o cuatro bloques, acolchar y la orilla. Este proyecto serás para dos meses.

6.- Centro de mesa octogonal con apliqué de hojas: hay que aplicar unas pocas hojas y luego acolchar.

7.- Cesta japonesa de Isi: me falta dos lados y armarla.

8.- Sampler año 2006: este proyecto lo realicé durante el curso de patchwork, tengo 15 bloques terminados, los voy a acolchar un mes y en el siguiente lo uniré y haré la orilla.

9.- Mantel navidad con pinos y hojas: uno de los inconclusos de esta última navidad: falta aplicar los círculos rojos alrededor de las hojas, agregar un borde floral y acolchar.

10.- Panel navidad Angie Padilla: falta bloque de la estrella, y luego acolchar.

2. - Autumn's table runner, is ready for quilting.

3. - Strip quilt blocks: join the blocks with the “quilt as you go” method.

4. - Footboard with applied: no quilting only one long side and join the rest.

Como a muchos, finalmente me “pilló la máquina”. No fui capaz de terminar una carpeta y un tapiz navideño, y eso que comencé en el mes de julio.

También usé bloques que quedan de proyectos abandonados para armar esta carpetita.

Los pequeños motivos en punto cruz, hechos con recortes de tela Aída, los empleé en un canasto escasamente más grande, y en él puse algunos productos de degustación chilenos. Este presente es el que llevó mi hijo Sebastián a la familia canadiense que lo recibirá en su casa hasta marzo.

…Locura de fin de año.

A Sara la conozco hace más de quince años, ella confeccionaba cortinas, cobertores y hermosas muñecas, en su casa. Tiempo después abrió una tienda en Talagante, era la única que vendía telas para patchwork; pero ella es de esas personas, como hay muchas, que le gusta hacer manualidades y no estar detrás de un mostrador, así que decidió terminar la tienda y guardó todas las telitas en la casa de muñecas de su jardín. Y así pasó mucho tiempo, hasta que sus nietos le pidieron la casita para jugar. ¡Benditos niños! Entonces Sara decidió rematar las telas, y allá llegamos en masa. Inicialmente compraría un poquito, ¡hay otros gastos!, la navidad y fin de año está encima. Pero era irresistible, levantabas un montoncito y aparecían unas preciosuras. En resumen, adquirí cerca de siete kilos. Soy buena chica…lo merezco, lo merezco…

Con estrellas / With stars

Continuando con los centros de mesa navideños, hice éste con dos estrellas. Vi el modelo en algunos blogs, y a partir de cuadrados de dos pulgadas, cosí el mío. Al principio creí que tendría que coser hileras e hileras de cuadraditos, pero después lo simplifiqué armando bloques de 16 cuadrados, así sólo uní 9 bloques.

Para el acolchado usé una plantilla con hojas de muérdago, me encanta como quedó.

Meses atrás mostré trabajos navideños inconclusos, y aunque retomé un panel, ha sido este centro de mesa el primero en finalizar. Lo hice con el festón de la máquina de coser (pero sigo prefiriéndolo hacer a mano), y una “voladura”, el acolchado, como disfruté realizándolo a partir de una plantilla descargada de la red.

Hice estos bolsos reversibles, fáciles de confeccionar y combinar. El de tela con flores y lunares tiene el tamaño original del patrón, y aunque es cómodo, al otro bolso le agregué una pulgada alrededor del cuerpo y tres pulgadas en el largo del tirante.

¡Parece que se descargaron las pilas!, sólo falta un bloque (la estrella) para terminar mi sampler de navidad de Angie Padilla, pero estas últimas semanas no he tenido tiempo. Hace un tiempo aprendí a no poner fecha de término, aunque para navidad falta un poco más de dos meses.

Tesoros encontrados / Treasures found

Esta semana hallé en la feria de Talagante algunos tesoros que me han hecho retroceder en el tiempo. Me gusta complementar algunos de mis trabajos con bordados, puntillas o botones sacados de mantelería o ropa antigua, por esa razón, cuando vi estas carpetas no dude que lucirían muy bien dentro de un nuevo proyecto que tengo planeado. Después, la opinión fue diferente, la carpeta bordada y borde multicolor, junto con el delicado camino de mesa con borde de “frivolité”, pasaron a formar parte de mis rincones favoritos de mi casa.

Mi jardín silvestre / My wild Garden

Acabo de terminar la colcha (2,10 x 2,40 metros) y la he bautizado “Mi jardín silvestre”, y es que al verla terminada, las franjas multicolores aparecen como las flores de mi jardín entre el pasto y los árboles perennes.

El jardín se hizo de a poco, sin paisajista ni plantas finas, al contrario, en la parcela había cabida para las patillas de rosa de una vecina, calas, achiras, gomero de la casa de mi mamá, crespón, flor de la pluma y otras plantas que mi suegro hacía en su casa del sur, el damasco que creció en una jardinera del departamento de una tía, la palmera que le regalo la profesora a mi hijo cuando terminó su primer año en el colegio, y más.

Después de un tiempo pude comprar algunas plantas diferentes como el ciprés del Líbano, un magnolio, un muérdago y un pino rubio (la dueña de un vivero de Licanray nunca se acordó de su nombre), que mezcladas con las que ya tenía dieron forma a un jardín colorido y agradable.

After a while I could buy some different plants such as cypress of Lebanon, a magnolia, a mistletoe and a blond pine (the owner of a plant nursery in Licanray never remembered the name); which mixed with that already had shaped a colorful and pleasant garden.

También usé telas importadas bellísimas e impecables aportando un toque de exclusividad al conjunto.

Y así, del mismo modo que hice un jardín campestre, simple y fácil de recorrer, cosí una colcha para mí, sencilla pero con muchos detallitos que forman parte de mi estilo.

Fue lo que me dijeron por mis trabajos navideños; así que este fin de semana, mientras los varones de la casa miraban fútbol de la Copa América, cosí un nuevo bloque del panel country de Angie Padilla y terminé detalles de los dos primeros bloques que había comenzado el año pasado.

Todavía con mi colcha / Still with my quilt

Sigo viva y avanzando. Comencé a acolchar el bloque central un día muy temprano, el diseño elegido fue quedando con pliegues, horrorosos, a la nueve de la noche, había descosido todo. Tuve que hacer otro diseño, rescatando unos motivos individuales (el caracol, el colibrí y las hojas en los extremos), que por ninguna razón los eliminaría. También recordé haber visto un bloque que al coserlo quedaba acolchado a la vez, entonces descosí el bloque que mostré aquí, y comencé a acolcharlo a medida que agregaba cada borde. Quedé conforme con el resultado.

I'm still alive and moving. I started quilting the center block one day too early, the chosen design was being folded, hideous, at nine in the evening, everything was unarmed. Homenaje al arte popular / Tribute to folk art

Tengo que reconocer que no fue amor a primera vista. Cuando descubrí este BOM con motivos en solitario sentí que faltaba algún detalle, pero de igual forma, mes a mes lo junté por si necesitaba un motivo en particular.

Hace un par de meses, el BOM terminó y con todos los bloques dispuestos, resultó una colcha muy simpática (alguna gracia tenía escondida).

I have to admit that it was not love at first sight. When I found this BOM with individual motifs, I felt was missing some detail, but I followed downloading it once a month if needed it together for a particular purpose.

A couple of months, the BOM is over and all the blocks ready, it was a very nice quilt (some grace was hidden).

Después de dar varias vueltas y responderme:”si tengo tantos trabajos empezados…”; lo comencé a hacer, la idea inicial era hacerlo tal cual lo tiene su diseñadora, pero en el camino pensé:”…y si le agrego unos bordaditos”, así esta colcha la he ido moldeando a mi manera, y ustedes que opinan.

¡Al Ataque! / The Attack!

Al ataque nuevamente con mi colcha que mostré aquí. Tenía planeado terminarla en mayo, incluso mantuve en mi cama el cubrecama veraniego esperando estrenarla antes que el frío se instalará por estas latitudes. No fue así, y tuve que recurrir a un antiguo y desteñido cubrecama mientras retomo las costuras.

Attack again with my quilt I showed here. I had planned to finish in May; even I kept the summer quilt on my bed waiting premiere before the cold will be installed in these places. Was not so, and I had to resort to an old and faded quilt while I return to the seams.

Aunque había avanzado bastante, aún queda pendiente terminar de acolchar tres bloques y el bloque central (el que corresponde a mi tercera y última modificación del trabajo). Cada cierto tiempo, cuando acumulo muchos trabajos sin terminar, hago un “dos por uno”, y aunque el montón queda igual, yo me siento más tranquila.

I have also attached the fabric for join the blocks, as I don't found a comfortable fabric, I dyed white with small little flowers fabric with a mixture of light green, dark green and yellow anilines, this was the result.

…Pasó mi primera semana de vuelta a la normalidad.

Durante el verano pasado tejí cuatro cuadrados a crochet usando solo restitos de lana, sin disposición definida de colores ni idea en qué serían usados.

Con algunas vueltas en lana color crudo y la unión de bloques hecha con el mismo crochet, finalmente lo terminé como una pequeña colcha, una puntilla en el borde y lista para ser usada.

... Spent my first week back to normal.

Last summer I knit four squares to crochet using only wool remaining, no definite order of colors no idea what would be used, after.

With a few laps in ecru wool and the union of blocks made with the same crochet, I finally finished a small quilt, a lace crocheted on edge and ready for use.

También completé unos pequeños motivos en punto cruz y bordé el pajarito, ahora sólo falta enmarcarlos, ¿dónde los colgaré?...en algún rincón de la cocina, a manera de reconciliación.

Un día frío de otoño / A cool fall day

Acá estoy poco a poco retomando mis actividades, no he forzado mi mano, sólo ayer volví a manejar (cómo me hubiera gustado que mi auto fuese automático), he bordado algo de punto cruz y tejido a crochet, ¿costura?... casi nada, quiero tener mi mano recuperada para tomar firmemente el cortador rotatorio.

Hace tiempo ya que vengo viendo el gran interés de muchas personas por aprender patchwork, y es ¿quién no se enamora de esta técnica?, por esa razón les muestro este libro-guía que tengo desde el año 2007, como su nombre lo indica, es una completa guía desde el uso del color, herramientas empleadas, formas de costura, formas de cortar piezas (con o sin reglas y cortadores), aplicaciones, estilos de acolchar y muchas maneras de acabar un quilt. Lo más probable es que haya una versión más actualizada y su valor no supera los US$20. Para mí ha sido un gran material de apoyo después de que deje de asistir a clases.

Poco a poco estoy superando este accidente. Lo único claro en este momento es lo que dice mi cabecera de blog: “Me gustan todas las artes menos cocinar”, no me puedo dar el lujo de tener una cocinera, pero todo con el tiempo se puede hacer nuevamente. El próximo lunes debieran sacarme los puntos, desconozco si tendré terapia o no. He ocupado mi tiempo leyendo, visitado muchos sitios, visto muchas técnicas y encontrado muchos proyectos gratis. Hace unos días cosí sólo retazos, sin recortar y planchar a medias con mi otra mano, es que “cuando uno nace chicharra…”

El camino de mesa le sucedió algo parecido al cosmetiquero mostrado aquí, hace un año atrás, completamente acolchado a máquina, quedó esperando la terminación del borde, es que con tantas telas de estampados diferentes en el diseño central, hay ocasiones que me “bloqueo” para hacer el “binding” adecuado. Ahora no me compliqué, usé la misma tela del borde exterior y ¡listo!

En varias ocasiones me han comentado sobre mis trabajos acolchados y también me han preguntado de cómo lo hago. Un curso introductorio al patchwork, hace hincapié a las diferentes técnicas de costuras y tipos de bloques, acolchado a mano y fugazmente, algo a máquina. Salvo, si se realiza algún taller exclusivo al tema (acá no he visto nada de eso), todo el mundo concuerda que el acolchado a máquina se consigue con la práctica (o con máquinas especiales, por supuesto).

On several occasions I receive comments on my quilting and have asked me how I do. An introductory course in patchwork emphasizes the different stitching techniques and types of blocks, hand quilting and fleetingly, something quilting machine. Except, if you do something exclusive workshop about the item (here I have not seen anything like that), everyone agrees that the quilting machine is with practice (or with special machines, of course).

Inicialmente, me resultó difícil el acolchado a mano, era incapaz de traspasar con la aguja las tres capas, y si lo lograba, el bastidor me molestaba. Mi sampler, el que realicé cuando hice el curso, está guardado en la parte superior de un closet horrorosamente acolchado, algún día me daré el trabajo de desarmarlo. Nada de esto me desanimó, al contrario, busqué información por internet y en un par de libros que tengo, compré los pies adecuados para la máquina y empecé a practicar. Después de intentarlo con el pie libre, me decidí por usar plantillas de papel y coser por encima.

Preparo la máquina con el pie de acolchado recto (me dirán que no es el adecuado, pero también se consigue curvas suaves), bajo la tensión del hilo, aumento el largo de la puntada y personalmente uso la máquina con velocidad lenta.

Quilt along o UFO

Aún no entiendo bien el concepto, sólo sé que es de esos términos que aparecieron cuando comencé hacer patchwork. En mi particular interpretación, es un trabajo sin plazo definido, “saldrá cuando se pueda”.

En agosto de año pasado comencé a unir tiras de diferentes estampados y anchos, conseguí así muchas franjas que posteriormente usaría en una gran colcha. Siempre he deseado una colcha de patchwork con el diseño de un solo bloque que cubra por completo la cama, y para eso necesitaba 63 bloques iguales. Al cortar las franjas laterales, me di cuenta que la tela escogida no alcanzaría y no tenía ninguna opción de encontrar más, ya que la había comprado dos o tres años atrás. Entonces el diseño tuvo la primera modificación, hice siete bloques con otra tela. En septiembre ya había acolchado 8 bloques completos y tenía varios sólo con la guarda central, y…hasta ahí no más me acuerdo. Entre compromisos, fiestas, vacaciones no avancé nada con esta colcha.

Ahora en la “limpieza” apareció nuevamente, durante la semana pasada completé 20 bloques acolchados, y como mi tendencia últimamente ha sido hacia el appliqué, he decidido hacerle un borde con aplicaciones de medialunas y flores. En esta nueva modificación, necesitaré 36 bloques (sólo faltarían 16 por acolchar) y por supuesto todo el borde.

Disculpen mi gran extensión, es que, para que resulte un trabajo de calidad, no se puede “hacer a la rápida”.

Ah!, los bloques estaban hechos, así que habrá que ver en qué se usan los sobrantes. Carpeta de retazos terminada / Patches tablecloth finished

Aquí está terminada la carpeta para la cocina. Hice el acolchado a máquina siguiendo el contorno del diseño central, “es una diversión” y personalmente me encantó el efecto. Es primera vez que “quilteó” dentro del apliqué, ya que las piezas son grandes y de muchos retacitos, era necesario realizarlo. Uní las piezas con la técnica “quilt as you go”, creo que es la mejor solución para las que hacemos patchwork y acolchamos con máquina de coser casera. Y como se trata de mi operación limpieza, hasta el ribete en el borde lo hice usando restitos. Por último, de los lados sobraron pedazos acolchados, y para no perderlos armé estos monederos.

Cada cierto tiempo me espanto ver tantos trabajos a medias, bolsas con millones de retacitos que en algún minuto se usaran, en fin cosas que ocupan espacio y ya no caben en ningún closet. Ayer empecé con este cosmetiquero al que le faltaba coser el cierre y terminarlo por dentro. Había quedado de lado en diciembre simplemente porque no encontraba la tela más adecuada para el ribete. Ahora probé dos y me decidí. Un par de horas de dedicación exclusiva y quedó listo. De liebre a tortuga / Hare to tortoise

Hace unos días terminé el segundo objetivo del SAL de la cesta. Disfruté cosiéndolo y me divertí mucho con las manzanas. Sé que la mayoría de las participantes hizo este bloque hace rato, pero si alguien está topando con las manzanas, les cuento que corté círculos del tamaño de una moneda de diez pesos (chilenos), pasé un hilván alrededor y formé un mini yoyo, el que cosí en el árbol.

A few days ago I finished the second objective of SAL of the basket. I enjoyed sewing it and I had fun with apples. I know most of the participants made this block for a while, but if anyone is encountering the apples, I cut circles the size of ten pesos (Chile); I spent a basting around and formed a mini yoyo, to sew on the tree.

Por otro lado, cuando hice el primer objetivo, lo cosí con puntada festón, y para no perderlo, lo emplearé en un estuche. Inspirada con el acolchado a mano, ya tengo listo las otras piezas para armarlo.

Lo único que me ha costado, es sacar las líneas del marcador, yo uso este lápiz que según las instrucciones se limpia con agua, pero a mí no me ha resultado tan simple. ¿Hay alguien más que lo use y me pueda contar cómo borra las marcas?

Este es mi último trabajo: un pie de cama, y como otros que he hecho, resultó de unir bloques realizados en diferentes épocas, y que quedan guardados hasta que les encuentro un uso.

Las rosas están aplicadas a mano (veo mucho trabajo de aplicación a máquina, mientras lo práctico… avanzo a mano).
En los bloques de 25 parches usé muchas telas floreadas, es un bloque tan simple, pero su efecto me encanta.
Los bloques de corazones venían en un panel, y en ellos practiqué el festón a máquina.

Un nuevo trabajo, diferente a los que acostumbro hacer es este banano de tela. La persona que lo pidió deseaba reemplazar el de material sintético por uno de tela y así evitar la irritación en la piel que produce el plástico durante esta época veraniega.

Después de pasar unos días en Puerto Varas, estoy nuevamente en casa, y aunque febrero ha sido muy relajado, me encuentro organizando lo que será mi trabajo, de hecho tengo que terminar dos proyectos que quedaron comprometidos antes que viajara.

Participé en una carrera de liebres en medio de panne de mi auto, taller mecánico, otitis de mi marido después de una zambullida en la piscina, servicio de urgencia…y gané. Ahora recibiré un premio desde España.

Me he divertido con esta carrera, pasada las 8 de la noche terminé su ropa. Decoré el pantalón con un pespunte en el borde, y en el vestido, por el tipo de tela rústica, sólo un bolillo finito.

Hola, ¿cómo están?, por acá comenzando un cuarto año en el mundo blogueril, espero que las musas no me abandonen.
Estos trabajos quedaron en el “tintero”, los hice para algunos compromisos en el mes de diciembre.

La persona que me encargó este bolso, lo quería sin fuelle y con asas para llevarlo al hombro, sin que éste se viera demasiado largo. La decoración consistió en bordar y acolchar a la vez el contorno de cada flor y hojas grandes con hilos de bordar al tono y coserle mostacillas en el centro de las flores, el resto del panel, lo acolché a máquina con hilo del mismo color del fondo ( me gusta mucho el efecto tono sobre tono).

Para María Cecilia, que no recibe comentarios en esta época: “felicitaciones y éxito en tu nuevo emprendimiento”.

Cada uno de sus integrantes fue cosido con la técnica de “paper foundation” (costura sobre papel) y bordé en el fondo muchas flores, cerros y estrellas (diseño personal). Este bordado sirvió como un primer acolchado, ya que lo realicé junto a la capa de punzonado, luego puse el forro y acolché a máquina cada uno de sus motivos.
Es un panel de grandes dimensiones (1,00 x 0, 75 mt), el que yo tengo, lo cuelgo sobre la chimenea durante las fiestas.

During the fair I attended in October, I commissioned a wall hanging of Christmas, a nativity. Otro bolso / Another handbag

Aunque el modelo es el mismo que mostré aquí, hice este bolso con dos telas estampadas en composé.

Lo acolché a mano, decorando el centro de las flores con mostacillas del mismo color y la nervadura de las hojas con hilo de bordar. También le puse en el interior una cerradura plástica (tip-top) en las caras opuestas a las que llevan el broche imantado, variando así el modelo original.
The quilting was made to hand, decorating the center of the flowers with beads of the same color and the veins of the leaves with embroidery thread. I also put inside handbag a plastic lock (tip-top) on opposite sides the magnetic clasp, thus changing the original model.

Este panel navideño tiene un motivo clásico de hemisferio norte. El bordado en punto cruz lo había mostrado aquí, le agregué un pequeño borde de triángulos, algunos botones , una estrella de madera y quedó muy “country”; ya no me desagradan tanto los hombres de nieve, aunque insisto, acá estarían derretidos. También le bordé “Feliz navidad” con varias hebras del hilo de bordar, para darle un aspecto más rústico y puse mostacillas del mismo color en los extremos de cada letra.

Comencé a trabajar el tema navideño, y a pesar de tener un estilo clásico, siempre encuentro algo novedoso, como estos pajaritos.

En el hemisferio sur, donde vivo, la navidad la pasamos con 30ºc por lo menos, así que la mayoría de las celebraciones son al aire libre y muy veraniegas. Por esa razón, me salí de los colores típicos e hice este panel multicolor. El modelo, una imagen que encontré en la red, fácil de hacer y entretenida de decorar.

Mi cuñada Valeria me encargó dos cojines para su sofá, y los quiso con la técnica “crazy” (muchos pedacitos de telas de diversos colores y variadas texturas, decorados con abundantes bordados).

Debo decir, y no sé por qué, por mucho tiempo los postergué, tal vez el bordado a mano me agobiaba. Cuando aprendí a hacer esta técnica, supe que la clave del éxito, es hacer diferentes puntadas, ojalá sin repetirlas. Partí bordando con festón y terminé haciendo flores, arcos, anillos y ondas con cadenetas, puntada atrás y harto nudo francés. Cuando los finalice, quedé encantada con el resultado y con deseos de hacer otro trabajo similar en un tiempo no tan lejano.

Bolso de prueba / Test bag

Como ven sigo haciendo bolsos. Vi este modelo formado por cuatro cascos y quise probar como resultaba, es muy sencillo de hacer.

Siempre que hago una prueba uso telas o bloques que están a un paso de ser eliminados, pero después terminado, no se ve tan mal. Es un bolso bastante grande con un broche imantado de cierre, aunque creo que aguantaría otra solución de cierre. El próximo, porque ya he pensado hacer otro, tendrá incorporada dicha solución.

Un modelo que siempre había querido hacer era un bolso canasto, amplio y cómodo.
Fue a partir de dos piezas realizadas en la técnica meshwork (tiras de telas cruzadas formando un enrejado) que confeccioné este bolso.

A model that always I wanted to make was a basket bag, roomy and comfortable.
It was from two art pieces made meshwork (cross fabric strips forming a lattice) that I made this bag.
La tela floreada le da un aire muy primaveral que unido al enrejado superior queda bien original. Por lo grueso que queda, no pude pespuntar el borde superior, así que con pequeños botones lo fijé al forro.

The floral fabric gives it a very air spring which together with the original upper grille, the handbag looks good. It is thick, I could not to sew the hem the top edge, so I put small buttons that attach to the lining.
Me encanta hacer bolsos, disfruto tanto cosiéndolos y personalizándolos y, por supuesto usándolos.

I love making handbags; I enjoy sewing them and personalizing them both and of course using them.

Reapareciendo después de varios días. El día sábado, en el colegio de mis hijos se organizó una feria de pulgas, la que resultó muy entretenida y concurrida.

Talagante también celebró a lo grande el bicentenario de Chile, y lo hizo con una gran muestra costumbrista. Como típica zona huasa, no faltó el campeonato de cueca y juegos tradicionales. Asistí un día en la noche, y me sorprendieron esculturas de personajes del campo y la mitología chilena, así que volví de día y compartir con ustedes estos trabajos. Llama la atención la cantidad de elementos reciclados que hay en cada escultura: tornillos, tuercas, restos de palas y carretillas, cerraduras y sistemas de duchas, cadenas de bicicletas, malla de gallinero, somieres y mucho más.

Talagante also celebrated in style the bicentenary of Chile, and did so with a large sample of manners. As typical huasa area, was cueca championships and traditional games. Trabajos con mucho color / Jobs with lots of color

Admiro trabajos hechos tan sobriamente con dos o tres colores, realmente se ven delicados y elegantes. A veces me propongo hacer algo así, y empiezo a jugar con telas en un par de tonos, y logro coser algunos bloques, pero de un momento a otro, algo resulta monótono, como cuando a la comida le falta sal o cualquier aliño que la deje sabrosa. Y, ahí comienzo, muy sutilmente a incorporar amarillos, rojos y muchos otros colores que hace que tome fuerza mi trabajo. Después de cuestionar este tema, llegué a la conclusión de que ese es mi estilo, aunque no es fácil acomodar varios trocitos multicolores en algo armonioso… resulta.

En abril mostré un mueble que empezaría a pintar, no debería demorar más de una semana y lo tendría en un rincón elegido para él, pero no fue así, quedó guardado por unos meses y durante las vacaciones de invierno lo entré a la casa para ir poco a poco terminándolo. Aún me falta desgastar la pintura, encerarlo y armar las puertas, si incluso tengo las bisagras y tiradores para las puertas y cajones.

Últimamente encontré varias carpetas a crochet, bolillo, punto cruz y bordado con diferentes puntadas, algunas están impecables, y otras con manchas difíciles de sacar o deteriorada la tela (en este caso tendré que hacer una cirugía mayor).

Siempre leo oraciones, frases o testimonios de “quilteras” alrededor del mundo, pero acabo de encontrar la impresión de un marido, la comparto con ustedes, después me cuentan si se sienten identificadas o no.

Aprendió patchwork el día lunes. Practicó sus costuras hasta que quedaron bien hechas.

My Wife, the Quilter

She learned to quilt on Monday. Her Stitches were very fine.
She forgot to thaw out dinner, so we went out dine.
She quilted miniatures Tuesday. She says they are a must.

It was wallhangings on Friday, in colors she adores.
But she never seemed to notice the crumbs on all the floors.
I found a maid on Saturday! My week is now complete.
My wife can quilt the hours away. The house will still be neat.
Well, it's already Sunday. I think I'm about to wilt.
I cursed, I raved, I ranted---The MAID has learned to Quilt!

Punto cruz / Cross Stich

Desde el verano pasado que no bordo nada en punto cruz, pero tampoco he ocupado los diferentes motivos que realicé. Moviendo cajas, empezaron a aparecer; si hablaran, me reclamarían:” ya poh, termíname”.
