Colcha para mi marido / Quilt for my husband

Los fines de semana, cuando estamos en casa, mi marido duerme siesta, y siempre le pide a mi hijo Sebastián, que le pase su piecera para taparse. Fue en enero cuando decidí hacerle una exclusiva para él, yo estaba terminando mi post operatorio, así que no tuve otra alternativa que hacer la colcha con las telas que tenía en casa. Después nos fuimos de vacaciones y la celebración del cumpleaños se suspendió por el terremoto. El 8 de marzo, cuando mis hijos volvieron a clases, yo retomé la colcha, y no pare hasta hoy en la mañana que la terminé.

On weekends, when we are at home, my husband nap, and always he want the foot quilt of my son Sebastian, to cover up. It was in January when I decided to make a quilt exclusive for him, I was finishing my post-op, so I had no choice but to make the quilt with the fabrics I had at home. Then we went on vacation and birthday celebration was suspended by the earthquake. On March 8, when my children returned to classes, I took it up again the quilt, and not stop until this morning that I finished.
Usé telas escocesas para los bloques con pelotas, y en el borde una tela con motivos de pesca, creo que resultó ad hoc a sus gustos. Hice unos pequeños acolchados a mano y la armé con la técnica “quilt as you go” (desde que aprendí esta técnica me cambió la vida), ahora sólo esperar que la use.

I used plaids for blocks with balls, and a fabric edge fishing grounds, I think it was ad hoc to suit your taste. I made some small quilting by hand and sew with technique “quilt as you go" (since I learned this technique changed my life), now just to wait that he use the quilt.

Lo que viene…/ What comes...

...Estoy terminando una colcha para mi marido, él estuvo de cumpleaños el 25 de febrero, y un mes después, la tendré lista. Será una sorpresa, me paseo por toda la casa con los bloques y no me ha preguntado que estoy haciendo.

...I'm finishing a quilt for my husband, his birthday was Feb. 25, and a month later, I shall list. It will be a surprise, I walk through the house with the blocks and he didn't ask me "What are you doing?"

Hace un tiempo empecé a recolectar carpetas antiguas en diferentes técnicas y cortinas de las que rescato una aplicación o las blondas. En mi próximo proyecto quiero utilizarlas.Some time ago I started collecting old folders on different techniques and curtains which I rescued an application or lace. In my next Project, I want use them.
Las mañanas están más heladas y donde vivo ya comenzó la niebla matinal, les dejo unas vistas desde el jardín y las pocas flores que le quedan al crespón.

The mornings are colder and where I live and started the morning mist, I show some views from the garden and the few flowers that remain for the crepe myrtle.

Mi trabajo de febrero / My February’s work

Este bolso era el que yo mostraría a fines de febrero, como parte de “Un proyecto al mes”(OPAM), el destino quiso que lo mantuviera guardado hasta hoy, y aunque el dolor no se acaba, hace días que los chilenos nos volvimos a poner de pie.

This bag was the job I show in late February as part of “One month project (OPAM), fate decided to keep it stored until today, and although the pain is not finish, a few days ago the Chileans became stand up.

Como en otras ocasiones, use un par de bloques hechos anteriormente, los uní y acolché a mano dentro de cada cuadrado (no acolchaba a mano hace años, pero lo volví a hacer durante mi postoperatorio y quedé “encantada” con su efecto especial). El modelo es muy simple, sólo le agregué un bolsillo y un gancho para las llaves en el interior.

As before, I use a couple of blocks made earlier, sewed them together and hand quilting inside each square ( I don't hand-quilting for years, but do it again during my post-operative and I was "delighted" with their special effect). The model is very simple; I just added a pocket and a hook for keys inside of the bag.
He sabido de algunas amigas que acogieron la idea de hacer colchas para los damnificados, todo granito de arena sirve.

I heard from some friends who welcomed the idea of making quilts for the victims, all this serves.

Una propuesta / A proposal

Aún aturdida por esta catástrofe que mi país está viviendo, debemos empezar a levantarlo.
Nadie ha quedado indiferente ante tanta tragedia, y aunque cada uno de nosotros tuvo su propia experiencia esa madrugada del 27 de febrero, la desaparición de pueblos costeros en la región del Maule y Biobío no lo olvidaremos por el resto de nuestras vidas.
El gobierno, la televisión, las radios, Cruz Roja, Caritas, Hogar de Cristo, entre otros, han comenzado campañas solidarias, habrá Duelo Nacional por tres días, pero siempre podemos hacer más.
Humildemente, también podemos aportar con nuestro “hobby”, al igual que las tejedoras han comenzado a tejer cuadrados de 20 x 20 para hacer frazadas, las que hacemos patchwork en Chile hagamos colchas para los que en este minuto lo necesitan, no debemos olvidar que muy pronto comenzará el invierno.
Como referencia, se puede usar telas de mezclilla, franela, moletón y polar. Se puede usar el paño completo o unir cuadrados del mismo tamaño (tablero de ajedrez), usar tela polar como forro. Coser las dos capas juntas cada 15 ó 20 cms. para fijar.
Todas nuestras ideas sirven.
