Un toque oriental / An oriental touch

Hay ocasiones que no tengo ganas de continuar con algún proyecto ya iniciado, entonces aprovecho de ordenar y guardar mis apuntes, libros y materiales, claro que este orden sólo dura un par de días, ya que durante esa operación , reaparece un proyecto olvidado o simplemente la instrucción de un bloque de patchwork.

Sometimes I have no desire to continue a project already started, then I take order and keep my notebooks, books and supplies, of course this only lasts a couple of days, because during that operation, appears a project forgotten or simply the instruction of a new block patchwork.

Esto sucedió hace dos semanas con un bloque de un farol oriental, me llamó la atención las telas usadas originalmente, así que busqué dentro de las mías algo similar y lo hice. Me gustó el efecto de los estampados grandes, los colores fuertes y el detalle en negro, que decidí hacer otro bloque con las mismas telas.

This happened two weeks ago with a block of a Chinese lantern, I drew attention to the fabrics used originally, so I looked into mine something similar, and I made. I liked the effect of large prints, the garish colours and detail in black; I decided to make another block with the same fabrics.

A esta altura, tenía claro que lo terminaría como camino de mesa o carpeta para la hora del te, así que busqué otros bloques con inspiración oriental, como el abanico y el kimono y el resultado fue este.

At this point, I was clear that ending as a table runner or folder table for tea time, so I looked other blocks with inspiration oriental, the fan and the kimono and the result was this.

Personalmente creo que no hay que tener miedo a usar estampados grandes, siempre hay un modelo adecuado donde usarlas y colores que lo neutralizan.

Personally I think that we should not be afraid to use large prints, there is always an appropriate model who use it and solid colours for neutralize it.

Graduado / Graduate

Cuando mi marido se decidió a actualizar sus estudios, después de veinte años de egresado de la universidad, sabíamos que no sería fácil, pues el tiempo que se debería sacrificar sería mayoritariamente el de la vida familiar. Por dos años se acabaron las salidas en grupo, las reuniones con amigos, el cine y las ferias de antigüedades, que tanto nos gusta. Todo el tiempo era para el intenso estudio, y siempre faltaba.
Estamos orgullosos con su logro, ¡¡¡Felicitaciones graduado!!!

When my husband decided to upgrade their education, after twenty years to graduate from college, we knew we would not be easy, since the time mostly the sacrifice should be of family life. For two years, finished the group outings, meetings with friends, movies and antique fairs, that we like. All the time was for the intense study, and always lacked.
All family is proud with their achievement, Congratulations graduate!!!

…Y llegó la lluvia / ... And the rain came

Será un fin de semana mojado. Ojala que se limpie el aire contaminado en Santiago. Sólo nos queda abrigarnos y comer "sopaipillas". No se cuando las haré, sólo se que tengo suficiente zapallo en mi refrigerador.

It will be a wet weekend. Hopefully that will clean the polluted air in Santiago. We can only keep warm ,and eat "sopaipillas". I don't know when I will prepare them, only I know that I have enough pumpkin in my fridge.

Terminado / Finished

No lo puedo creer, por fin lo terminé. Dejé todo de lado por acabarlo, pero se hizo eterno.

I can not believe it, finally I finished. I left everything behind to finish it, but it was eternal.

Hace un par de años atrás, “Melly and me” propuso hacer bloques “Scrappy cabin” con los retazos que se van acumulando (tengo la mala costumbre de no botar nada, siempre digo:”lo puedo necesitar”), es así como llené una caja grande con estos mini bloques, que posteriormente uniría todos juntos.

A couple of years ago, "Melly and me" was propose to make blocks "Scrappy cabin" with the scraps that are accumulating (I have the bad habit of not throw anything, I always say: "I may need), and I filled a big box with these mini-blocks, which later I will join together.

No me arrepiento de guardar por un largo tiempo los proyectos, cuando los retomo, siempre hay una modificación en el diseño original, cambio de telas o forma de acolchar.

I don't regret for a long time to save the project, when I return, always there is a change in the original design, fabrics or quilting.

También hice otra funda de cojín reciclada, el estampado invernal lo saqué de un polerón.

I also made another pillow recycled; the fabric is a winter stamp jacket.

Aún no sale / Yet I isn't finished

Trabajé durante el mes de mayo para terminar mi manta "Simple Scrappy Treasures" y mostrarla en el desafío "One Project a month Challenge", pero cuando correspondía la etapa del sandwich me di cuenta que no tenía suficientes alfileres de gancho ya que la mayoría estaban en este otro quilt.

I worked during the month of May to finish my quilt "Simple Scrappy Treasures” and show on "One Project A month Challenge", but when it was the stage of the sandwich, I realized I did not have enough pins due that most pins were in the other quilt.

Así que empecé a acolchar este último para ir retirando alfileres, pero tampoco lo terminé dentro del plazo. Con más calma durante la semana continué…hasta que se acabó el hilo.

So I started quilting this second quilt to remove pins, but neither had I finished on time. With more calm during the week I continued quilting ... until the thread is finished.

Definitivamente mis planes y mis cálculos no han sido acertados últimamente.
