Flores en la Mesa / Flowers on the Table

Hace unos días la poda se llevó las últimas rosas de mi jardín. Los días grises, el frío y las heladas matinales hace que el paisaje parezca apagado. Sólo adornando la casa con accesorios llenos de color, se hace más llevadero el invierno. No sigo modas, sólo, en mi caso, nace naturalmente usar los colores naranjo, fucsia y amarillo, y de ahí los motivos de flores y las telas floreadas resulta ser una sola cosa cuando empiezo a bosquejar un trabajo.

A few days ago the pruning was lead the roses of my garden. The gray days, the cold time and freezing morning makes a sad landscape. Just decorating the house with colorful accessories, it becomes more bearable the winter. I do not follow fashion, only in my case, comes naturally to use the colors orange, fuchsia and yellow, hence the reason for flowers and floral fabric spontaneously sprout when I start to sketch a job.

Quise hacer un camino de mesa (con mis restitos por supuesto) siguiendo esta temática, y algo que me gusta agregar ahora último en mis trabajos, una frase bordada “No hay lugar como el hogar” refleja mi flojera para salir durante esta época del año.

I wanted to make a table runner (with my scraps of course) following this issue; and something I like to add more recently in my work, embroidered phrase "No place like home" reflects my laziness to go out during this time of year.
El borde ondeado fue una prueba y me resultó, y el ribete, una tela como arco iris, personalmente creo que fue una buena elección, ya que cuando se usan muchos colores y bastantes telas diferentes, no resulta fácil encontrar una tela adecuada para el borde, las claras se apagan y las encendidas…era mucho.

The wavy edge was a test and it went well, and color edge, a fabric like a rainbow, I personally think it was a good choice, because when you use many colors and many different fabrics, not easy to find a suitable fabric for the border, the clear fabric it off and dark fabric ... was a lot.

El primer borde / The first border

Continúo con la colcha medallón, añadí el primer borde alrededor del bloque central. Como lo estoy uniendo con la técnica “quilt as you go”, debí acolchar todos los bloques previamente. Hice el acolchado a máquina, y creo que quedó “decente”.

I continue with the medallion quilt, I added the first border around the central block. As I am joining with technique "quilt as you go", I had all the blocks previously quilting. I made the quilting machine, and I think that this was "decent."
Los bloque que use para este borde son los llamados "Migas" (se cose hasta el más mínimo retazo de tela), personalmente me gusta, ya que me encanta “abusar” del color. El próximo borde será con apliqué y estoy preparando su fondo.

The block used for this edge is called "Crumbs" (sewn to the smallest piece of fabric), personally I like it, since I love "abuse" of color. The next border will be with appliqué and I'm working in your background.
Entre costura y costura, preparé sopaipillas, es que el frío y la lluvia las pide.
Esta foto la tomé recién hechas, ya que duró un abrir y cerrar de ojos, y es que nadie (o me equivoco) se resiste a estas masitas fritas ni tampoco nos acordamos de las calorías, ese es tema para septiembre…después del dieciocho por supuesto.

Between sewing and sewing, I made "Sopaipillas", is that the cold and rain calls them.
This photo was taken just done, and that lasted a blink of an eye; and no one (or I'm wrong) is resistant to these fried cookies nor do we remember the calories, that is case in September ... after day 18, of course.

Una cortina pequeña / A small curtain

Una ventana fija de mi casa queda frente a uno de los baños, y mis hijos, no tienen el cuidado de mantener cerrada la puerta. No me gustaba como se veía desde afuera, a pesar que la ventana no tiene vista desde la calle. Busqué una solución de privacidad sin perder luz, y así confeccioné una cortina de tela (usé el desaparecido chintz) con aplicaciones a crochet para el borde y centro; como la tela era escasa, completé el alto de la cortina con una guarda bien calada.

A fixed window of my house is facing one of the bathrooms, and my children haven't cared to keep the door closed. I didn't like how it looked from the outside, although the window isn't visible from the street. I searched for a solution without losing privacy nor light, so I made a curtain (I used the missing chintz) with applications to crochet to the edge and center, as the fabric was scarce, I completed the lace crocheted enough depth.
Posteriormente se plantó un gomero por delante de la ventana (mi mamá lo tenía en su casa, era un palo largo con una veintena de hojas), con los años el árbol luce así, tapando la vista hacia el interior.

Subsequently, a gum tree planted in front of the window (my mom had it in his house, was a long pole with a score of leaves), over the years the tree looks like, blocking the view into the interior.
Ahora alterno la cortina con esta cenefa tejida a crochet.

Now I alternate the curtain with this crocheted border.

El Centro del Medallón / Medallion Center

Hace bastante tiempo que estoy en campaña de reducir mi bolsa de retazos, podría coser muchos bloques para los cosmetiqueros, bolsos y colchas y la bolsa no sufre ninguna modificación, pasa lo mismo que cuando uno llega a cierta edad, por más dietas que haga, el peso sigue igual.

Some time ago I'm campaigning to reduce my bag of scraps, could sew many blocks for cosmetic bags, bags and quilts, and the bag isn't changed, same thing happens when one reaches a certain age, by more diets do, our weight remains the same.

Ya en un anterior ataque reductivo hice 20 bloques llamados “Migas”, pero como no alcanzaba para una colcha, decidí combinarlo con otros bloques y de ahí surgió la idea de hacer una colcha estilo “Medallón” (se hacen diferentes bordes alrededor de un bloque central), y que mejor que hacer un apliqué para el centro.

Already in a previous reductive attack I made 20 blocks called "Crumbs", but not enough for a quilt, I decided to combine it with other blocks and hence the idea to make a quilt style "Medallion" (become different borders around a block central), and what better to do one appliqué for the center.
Como la idea principal es usar sólo lo que está en la bolsa, uní muchos restos de color beige para el fondo, y sobre él un motivo de jarrón con flores y hojas multicolores (me gusta mucho en este estilo los diseños de Sue Spargo y Pat Sloan). Luego completé los bordes con cuadraditos y franjas irregulares. No ha quedado retacito sin usar, si hasta el Rey León está presente (¿será la fiebre mundialera?).
A continuación lo acolcharé para agregar el primer borde.

As the main idea is to use only what is in the bag, I joined many scraps of beige for the background, and above it a motif of a vase with colorful flowers and leaves (I like this style designs of Sue Spargo or Pat Sloan). Then I complete the edges with irregular stripes and small squares .All scraps I used, if even the Lion King is present (World Cup fever is it?).
